1. Describe the core elements (phases) of the instructional design process.
There are five core elements (phrases) of the instructional design process. Analysis, design, develop, implement, and evaluation. (ADDIE) Analysis is often includes conducting a need assessment, identifying a performance problem in a bussiness setting or some other environment, and statng a goal. Design includes writing objectives in measurable terms, classifying learning as to type, specifying learning activities, and specifying media. Development includes preparng student and instructor materials as specified during design. Implementation includes delivering the instruction in the settings for which it was designed. Evaluation includes both formative and summative evaluation as well as revision. Formative evalution involves collecting data to identify needed revisions to the instruction; summative evaluation involves collecting data to assess the overall worth of instruction, in either absolute or relative terms. Revision involves making needed changes based on the formative evaluation data.
2. Describe the distinguishing features that underline the instructional design process.
There are several characteristics that should be present in all instructional design efforts. First of all, instructional design is learner-centered. Second, it is goal-oriented. Third, it focuses on real-world performance and also focuses on outcomes that can be measured in a reliable and valid way. Instructonal design is empirical, and is it typically is a team effort.
3. Examine the definition of instructional design that the authors provide in the conclusion section of the chapter. Do you think it is a satisfactory definition? If so, why? if not, either write your own definition, identify another definition of instructional design that you prefer, or indicate how you would revise this one.
In my opinion, definition of instructional design that the authors provide in the conclusion section of the chapter is a satisfactory definition, because the authors refer to the matter a detailed way as it should be. They mention the characteristics, the core elements (phrases) of instructional design and etc.
